A harness is rarely a straight bundle. It branches, bends around brackets and changes diameter where connectors and splices sit, and a stiff film tape tends to bridge across those shapes instead of following them. Cloth-backed tape is used where the wrap has to conform rather than hold its own line.
What to compare
- Conformability — No.570F uses a 0.25 mm acetate cloth backing. The cloth bends around tight radii and uneven surfaces and stays where it is pressed, rather than springing back off a curve.
- Adhesion and strength — 8.58 N/25 mm adhesion against 156.9 N/25 mm tensile strength, with 20% elongation. The tape holds on a bundle without pulling out of shape when the harness is flexed.
- Electrical and flame rating — 3.7 kV breakdown voltage and UL510 flame retardance, which covers the insulating role as well as the mechanical one.
- Roll size — 25 mm wide and 30 m long, on a rubber adhesive.
Typical applications
- Wire harness wrapping on looms with tight bends and branch points.
- Transformer insulation where the layer has to follow the winding shape.
- Motor insulation on leads and winding exits.
- Bundles that change diameter along the run, where a film tape would bridge instead of following.
Part number in this collection: No.570F. It is used as a wrap over the bundle, so the number of branches on the loom decides how much tape the job takes.
