Glass cloth tape with silicone adhesive for the highest mechanical strength in high-heat electrical work — motor and transformer leads, class H insulation, heat shielding.
It is UL rated for 200°C.
One roll is 25 mm wide and 30 m long.
Typical values measured according to JIS or the manufacturer's test methods. Reference values, not guaranteed values.
No.540S is glass cloth at 0.18 mm with the highest tensile strength in this range, so it is used where the tape is doing mechanical work as well as electrical work: edge protection on a coil, a wrap over a hot part that gets handled, masking during varnish impregnation. Silicone adhesive, 200 °C UL rating, 4.5 kV breakdown.
The full comparison is in electrical insulation tape.
In use
Woven glass cloth: it does not melt, stretch apart or burn through.

Masks trim, plastic and glass while you strip paint, shrink tubing or solder nearby joints.
Wraps looms near manifolds and turbos. 589 N/25 mm tensile means it will not pull apart when wrapped tight.
